Learning from Romania's experience as regards the access to european funds

Representatives of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy had the opportunity to adopt Romania's experience in order to implement projects and access European Union funds, with a view to enhancing our country's efforts in the european pre-accession process. For this purpose, during 17-19 November 2022, a delegation from our university, led by Rector Emil Ceban, participated in the works of the Forum with the generic title "Boosting the absorption of European funds by the Republic of Moldova – an EU candidate country", held at Aurel Vlaicu University (UAV) in the city of Arad.
The event was attended by over 70 representatives of several institutions from the Republic of Moldova: the State Chancellery, Timofei Mosneaga Republican Clinical Hospital, the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, the Oncological Institute, the Fălești District Hospital, the local public administration, universities and high schools, etc.
The purpose of the event was to encourage and support the authorities of the Republic of Moldova on the EU integration path by establishing inter-institutional partnerships that will boost the rate of absorption of European funds (pre-accession) and by sharing the best practices of Romanian colleagues.
An important moment of this visit was the signing of a tripartite memorandum of understanding between UAV from Arad, Nicolae Testemitanu University and the Moldovan Institute for the Development and Expertise of Projects (IDEP). Thus, the parties will collaborate in the context of implementing financing projects, capitalizing on the potential of institutions, sharing the best practices, promoting and initiating cooperation relations between the parties in order to meet the criteria of eligibility and convergence of objectives and participate in development projects.
At the same time, representatives of universities from the Republic of Moldova participated in a round table, at which the Rector Emil Ceban sent a message of gratitude to the Romanian authorities for the support given to our country in the development of the fields of education and research.
Moreover, the Nicolae Testemitanu University delegation paid an information and documentation visit to the Institute for Research, Development, Innovation in Technical and Natural Sciences, to the laboratories of the Research Center in Technical and Natural Sciences, founded under the projects co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund "Investments for your future".
The representatives of our university got acquainted with the activity of biochemistry, microbiology, statistics and mathematical modeling, optomechatronics and biomedical photonics, modeling of biological systems, natural products, advanced materials, natural sciences, statistics and mathematical modeling (experimental data processing) laboratories.
The members of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy delegation also visited Victor Babes Timișoara University of Medicine and Pharmacy, where they had a meeting with Rector Octavian Cretu, Vice-Rector for Teaching Activity Daniel Lighezan, Vice-Rector for Academic Development Dorel Sandesc, Vice-Rector for International Relations Claudia Borza , and Director of the Council for Doctoral University Studies Cristina Dehelean. During the meeting, aspects of future collaboration and the idea of extending the bilateral cooperation agreement were discussed. Rector Octavian Cretu came up with the proposal to conclude a twinning agreement, under which the following areas of bilateral cooperation would be stipulated: academic mobility, the development of theses in co-supervision, the implementation of research and development projects, exchange of experience and best practices between specialists, etc. During the visit, the administration of the host university expressed its readiness to create a support team for the generation and management of development projects at the stage of our country’s pre-accession to the European Union. In addition, the possibility of writing and publishing scientific articles in impact factor international journals for scientific teaching staff and researchers from our university was highlighted.
The delegation of our university included Vice-Rector for Social Activity Marcel Abras, Vice-Rector for Economic Activity Victoria Cravet and Veronica Ichim, Deputy Head of the Department of External Relations and European Integration.
